Satellite TV Lets You Enjoy Your Favorite Movies Uncut and Uncensored
There's something truly enjoyable about watching a film in its uncut, uncensored beauty. Back since the days of Orson Welles, censors have been doing their worst to compromise artistic vision. Orson Welles never got final cut over some of his best films, such as The Magnificent Ambersons. Today censorship is alive and well and broadcast networks still go bonkers over anything too violent, too vulgar or even worse, too gritty and not PC-appropriate. It's hardly worth watching a movie if it is being broadcast on a network known for censorship.
Imagine a movie like The Exorcist without the language or extreme violence. Would it be as disturbing as you remember it? Imagine seeing Martin Scorsese's Goodfellas with all the gritty violence and hard language removed. It might be appropriate for your children to watch but would it mean anything in the real world or for cinema? (Actually, it would look a lot like Goodfeathers from Animaniacs) What about the movie Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan? Would the film have truly been as controversial and hilarious as it was if 75% of its content was cut by censors?
In short, it is only fair that films be experienced as the director intended them to be. Movies that are compromised for network broadcast lose a little something in translation. Why some movies might not even make any sense after you remove the parts unacceptable to censors! Some broadcast networks also cut material for timing's sake, so that the movie can fit comfortably in a two hour block'and of course, include dozens of commercials. Isn't this the worst way to watch a film? Cut away from a beautiful interior shot of deep reflection and focus in on that talking head Jack from Jack-In-The-Box. It's a bit hard to let it all soak in while drooling over Pita snacks with smoky chipotle sauce.
